Image Viewer is and, in my opinion should be, an image viewer—not an editor or librarian or anything else. As such, it loads fast and allows you to rapidly preview complete folder of pics (even sub-folders if you want). If I want to organize, I will tap my fingers waiting for Adobe Bridge to open. If I want to edit I will get a cup of coffee while iPhoto or Lightroom loads. But if I just want to view images quickly, Image View is my go to (and my default viewer for all image types). So, Abacus, please resist the temptation to add ever more features and keep Image Viewer lightweight.
Having said that, a few interface improvements could help:
- Allow zooming in with a mouse click, and zooming out with a CMD-Click
- Why such non-intuitive keyboard shortcuts? Why not just I for info and S for slideshow, etc?
- Not a fan of the separate info window. In Single image mode, just an info overlay (similar to Lightroom). In Thumbnail mode, a panel or info bar at the bottom.
- An option to display filenames in thumbnail view could be useful.
- Finally, I am guessing you do not want to add databasing features to the app, and I agree with this. But, if you could hook into the tagging function of File Handler (both read and write), that would be very helpful for those of us using the app to review images prior to post-processing.
Having said that, this is one of my most used apps and is well worth the very minimal price.
